Radio Frequency and Thermal Seal Tools

Progressive Service Die Company is an industry leading manufacturer of both Radio Frequency and Thermal Seal & Trim tooling. 

RF seal tools use Radio Frequency energy to weld layers of certain compatible materials together (vinyl films and other similar materials). Some brass RF seal tools are used as seal-only tooling. Others have a brass "tear seal" profile machined into the seal face which allows sealing and trimming operations to be completed simultaneously. For harder to cut materials, an articulating seal and trim die can be used to incorporate a steel cutting edge along with a brass seal face. 

Thermal seal tools use heat to accomplish the welding process. The thermal sealing process can be applied to a wider range of materials including thermoplastics, thinsulate, and other compatible materials. In many cases, these tools can also have trim blades incorporated into the design to accomplish the sealing and trimming operations with one tool.

Progressive Service not only manufactures these seal tools, but also part positioning trays to align layers of materials for welding. We also manufacture positive stops and alignment pin systems to help customers control their presses and get the best performance from their equipment. We also produce heated platen systems that can produce the heat needed to use thermal seal tooling when heaters are not integrated into the tooling itself.
